May 31 and June 1, 2008Cooley's best of the best competitors and litigators came together this weekend to battle out a lawsuit that had consequences in two worlds: one where the rain falls down, and the other where the rain falls up!!! Plaintiff's attorneys represented Harry Potter, a supposedly abused whippersnapper student. Defense attorneys represented Professor Snape (a less than likable Professor) and the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry (where the administration lets professors and students "just do what they want"). Ultimately, Harry Potter's claim prevailed. Professor Snape and Hogwarts are going to have to pay for mistreating Mr. Potter regardless of which plane of existence they are from. Let's hope that Professor Snape can command some big bucks to fall from the sky. Winners: Congratulations to Scott Goldman and Pat King who represented Mr. Potter.Finalists: Catherine Kruszka and Erik Scramlin valiantly stood up for Snape's and Hogwarts's cause.Top Advocate: Rachel Madden, the only litigator to take the top score in each of the three preliminary rounds on May 31.Semi-Finalists:
The Rest of "The Best:"
On behalf of the entire Mock Trial Board, thank you everyone who helped out and competed. It was a great competition.
